The Finance Business Partner – Projects supports the Head of Business Performance Management in the pursuit of the Company’s strategic and financial objectives. This role is responsible for the financial components within Bank Australia’s the Program of Work. This includes partnering with Program and Project Manager in the preparation of business cases, budgets and forecasts along with providing financial advice to the Project team during commercial negotiations. On a monthly basis, this role will lead the project related close activity including the preparation of performance reports and actionable insights.

What you will be doing

• Lead the design and implementation of a project accounting framework that accurately captures the financial position of current projects
• Partner with the Project Managers and Business Leaders in the development of business case financials, commercial considerations and change requests
• Responsible for the ongoing monitoring of projects to ensure their deliverables are maintained with budget and funding positions clearly understood and communicated
• Responsible for the forecasting of the Program of Work at a project and program level along with the determination of project cost trends through to completion and the on-going run costs which will transition into BAU post go-live
• Preparation of monthly project reporting at various levels as part of the bank project governance processes
• Partner with the Finance Operations team in the preparation of General Ledger reconciliations for project related WIP accounts as part of the monthly Balance Sheet substantiation process
• In collaboration with the Senior Business Analyst determine the benefits expected from the projects and the impact these will have on the identified KPIs.

What you will bring

• Tertiary qualifications and desirably CA/CPA qualifications
• Strong technical understanding of project accounting and prior experience in technology focused project accounting
• Thorough understanding of business process, control, governance, risk management and best practice
• Advanced spreadsheet and financial modelling and analytical skills
• Adaptable and open to alternative ideas or changing circumstances
• Strategic thinker and planner with the ability to link and balance short term-needs with longer term objectives
• Demonstrated capacity for collaborative team leadership
• Innovative problem-solver that challenges the status quo and implements process and quality improvements
