Role Synopsis and Required Skills and Attributes

• Oversight of daily controls for the sub ledger covering trade processing for equities, fixed income and FX plus post trade services. This includes monitoring trial balance postings and control accounts; system testing for new functionality and regression testing. Review and approve daily journal postings

• Co-ordination of monthly account ownership process, run monthly review meeting, track actions raised

• Review and approve requests for new accounts, checking adherence to policy

• Updating account ownership policy

• Reconciliations – prepare or review sub ledger accounts under finance ownership

• Liaise with auditors on ISAE 3402 account ownership controls and evidence

• Complete quality assurance reviews periodically across any sub ledger accounts. This involves detailed understanding of operational processes, for equities and fixed income products and their post trade services and application of the account ownership policy

• Oversight and follow up on tasks undertaken by supporting offsite accounting teams, being prepared to step into the detail and resolve issues to ensure delivery of overall accounting and strategic objectives. Training and developing knowledge of offsite teams. Tasks undertaken by offsite teams will include:

• Disaster recovery for Pershing India support team

• Ad hoc duties as required – assisting business owners with accounting entries, supporting team for data policies

• Knowledge of equities and fixed income products and their post trade services (settlements, corporate actions and dividends) is essential, accounting knowledge desirable

• Management of offshore resources and influencing account owners peer group

Position Summary

The Accountant IV role is accountable to deliver through effective, efficient Sarbanes- Oxley, regulatory compliant finance processes, in accordance with local and consolidated GAAP, useable, accurate and timely financial information from the point of transaction through to financial close and external reporting period (month, quarter, and annual).

The individual in this role may be called upon to support a particular line of business, region, or accounting process, as assigned for any accounting processes from the point of transaction through to the close, consolidation, and financial reporting of business outcomes for enterprise BNYM. S/he provides support for a wide range of end to end Record to Report (R2R) accounting processes and general ledger events required to transform data into information for reporting purposes. This includes: processing of complex financial transactions; identifying and analysing exceptions; and providing support for a wide range of R2R activities such as audits, the fulfilment of ad hoc requests, and specialproject activities. S/he prepares and/or posts journal entries for complex general ledger accounts; and reconciles g/l activity to ensure that the trial balance includes expected transactions and reflects the correct balances.

S/he supports more complex recurring and one time transactions, such as accruals, intercompany, and adjusting transactions in addition to performing more advanced and complex reconciliations of accounts or financial data.

Primary Responsibilities

S/he will participate in more complex accounting activities, documenting the detailed processes agreed, documenting the means to perform the more complex reconciliations, accruals, and allocations, taking the technical accounting guidance from the Technical Accounting team and applying it to one time events, or new recurring transactions, supporting ERP and other R2R support tool implementation activities, and any other support requested to develop and sustain common end-state financial and accounting processes in support of their direct supervisor and the global process owners End to End (E2E) General Process Owners (GPOs), Functional Process Owners (FPOs), and Discrete Process Owners (DPOs). This includes global, regional, and country specific R2R processes.

In addition, the Accountant supports the day to day capture of performance metrics at the functional, team and individual level, and participates in rotating assignments within the regional and global service centers, associated with lines of business, legal entities and geographies to grow their depth of understanding of the various BNYM lines of business, and the unique attributes of the legal entity, regulatory, and in country requirements, over time.
