To support Mars Inc’s Digital Transformation vision, MARS has embarked on a Master Data Transformation Journey building the capabilities across People, Processes, Technology & Data that will improve the effectiveness & efficiency of data management.

To sustain this Transformation Journey MARS is establishing Master Data Network that will implement data management best practices on an ongoing basis. The data organization will continue to evolve master data strategy, data models & standards and implement & scale those across segments & markets.

Master Data Network is comprised of Master Data Stewardship network focused on implementing data standards set by the data councils in the segment/markets.


What are we looking for?

  • Bachelors degree in Business or similar

  • Has considerable experience (7+ years) in data management.

  • Understands the finance domain with a strong background on financial accounting and reporting experience.

  • Experienced in implementing complex and efficient business processes, data, and workflows.

  • Candidate should have in-depth experience in managing teams that were executing data operations.

  • Ability to work with business stakeholders at Region/market level (should be able to discuss issues with data)

  • Demonstrated Leadership skills, with proven management experience within a matrix organization

  • Strong Business Acumen of the FMCG industry

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management of regional leaders


What will be your key responsibilities?

The Finance Data Steward is the global data steward. This position is responsible for driving the adoptions of data & process standards set by Global Finance Data Council and Data Champions for the Finance domain. The Finance master data domain includes Chart of Accounts, General Ledge (GL), Profit Center, Profit Center Hierarchy, Cost Center and Cost Center Hierarchy etc. The role’s main interactions are with the master data maintenance teams to provide guidance and clarify any issues that might be arise in the management of finance master data. This position will also work very closely with S&F associates to create awareness and help them understand finance data model and principles. They will represent the finance domain in the stewardship forums as well as provide feedback to the Regional Chief Data Steward for discussions with the data councils.

  • This role understands the overall governance objective set by the Finance Data Councils and with guidance from the Regional Chief Steward, will adopt these objectives, processes to the nuances of the finance domain. There could be variations in the processes, definition of data quality KPI’s, setup of roles etc.

  • This position will be the Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) for the finance domain.

  • The role will act as the source of knowledge for the master data maintenance team, the business stakeholders, the data quality teams as well as the Regional Chief Steward.

  • They ensure that the finance master data changes, new creation etc. are executed by the master data maintenance team in a quality and timely manner.

  • They are responsible for driving the accuracy of the finance data, while working with the Data Quality organization. They are responsible for setting the thresholds for the Global Data Quality KPI’s for their domain/segment.

  • They are the primary interface for the business stakeholders on a day to day basis while working with the data operations team.

  • They will also be involved in finance related projects and enhancements in regards to process improvement, system development, data cleansing, etc.

  • They are responsible for handling any immediate escalations and to expedite requests.
