Job Purpose:
To provide a critical role in the development and maintenance of finance systems and processes across the University including the ongoing development of OneUniversity and other core finance systems.
Principal Duties:
Responsible for obtaining and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the Finance systems and processes to better support the University’s business requirements.
Collaborate with key team members to ensure that the OneUniversity solution continues to meet business requirements and gain an understanding of the context and impact of the solutions to all the University’s operations.
Support key team members to ensure that other key business applications continue to meet business requirements, including those to be migrated to OneUniversity and that applications are appropriately retired.
Line management of Finance Systems Analyst including the provision of support in order to achieve objectives.
Lead the Finance testing and sign off of the scheduled OneUniversity software upgrades and upgrades to other key systems.
Continue to develop skills and knowledge of the OneUniversity solution to identify where, when and how future enhancements could / should be deployed.
Continued sharing of knowledge of finance systems and end user training as updated software enhancements are deployed.
Identify areas of improving efficiency through the use of finance systems
Advise when required on future integration with Finance and Research and Projects to the other Business Transformation work streams.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in both process and system usage across the schools and directorates.
Provide assistance in resolving finance system failures.
Sharing and developing best practice across the University’s finance function.
Internal and External Relationships
Responsible for building and maintaining strong communication links and strategic partnerships internally with relevant school and professional services colleagues.
Develop constructive relationships with Finance Directorate and UoDIT to enable appropriate support model.
Essential
Experience of working with Finance systems either in a project or development capacity;
Excellent understanding of Accounting principles and finance processes
Experience of communicating financial information to non-finance specialists at all levels across the organisation
Desirable
Knowledge of the Higher Education sector
Fully qualified accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least two years’ relevant post qualification experience;
Essential
High degree of systems literacy;
The ability to maintain a strong focus on strategic improvement and be persistent and resilient in enabling its delivery, including the ability to constructively challenge the organisation.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and build relationships
Able to build effective working relationships with financial and non-financial managers across the University and outside;
Able to work at both a detailed level and a strategic level.
