Dorchester Search & Selection Looking for Shop Floor Production Manager at Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent Full Time

Due to expansion, we now seek a time served engineer and experienced Production Manager to join this well established and inclusive team.

Located in Trentham, Staffordshire, you will join a globally recognised market leader with over 32 years history providing complete turnkey primary and secondary surveillance radar solutions, including surface movement and transportable systems to civil and defence authorities around the world. 

Role Requirements:

Utilising your knowledge and experience you will manage the activities of the shop floor including the management of your team to achieve production targets. 

This is a hands-on and visible role that requires leadership, commitment and flexibility that goes beyond the humdrum nine to five. As such, the ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that they can add value and happy to work beyond the norm, including most Saturday mornings, maximising their earning potential.

Essential skills, knowledge & experience:

• Time served engineering apprenticeship with machining and fitting experience;
• Shop floor experience of managing people either as a charge hand, foreman or in a managerial role; 
• At least 12 years production floor experience and 5 years mechanical engineering fitting experience, gained in a medium size manufacturing/engineering environment;
• Effective decision maker, planner and communicator who can confidently manage and motivate skilled and semi-skilled operators;
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings;
• Live within a commutable distance of ST4 8HU e.g. c.30 minutes (Relocation package available);
• Solutions orientated with a positive and flexible can-do attitude, who has the ability to develop and improve manufacturing processes and methods.

Nice to have:

• Electro mechanical assembly experience would be advantageous.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills;
• Organised and methodical in their approach to work with an eye for detail;
• Team player.
