As a Program Controls Analyst, you will also be challenged to dream up new, more productive, more efficient, more predictable, and more precise ways of working. You will support the Project Management Office Manager. You will play a pivotal role in the planning, tracking, analyzing, and reporting of projects of varying contract type, size, and complexity. You will be empowered to create and maintain site deployment schedules in Microsoft Project and other project management information systems (e.g. Sitetracker). Additionally, you will establish and maintain the cost baselines and perform Estimates at Completion.

The Program Controls Analyst will assist in the analyze of schedule impacts and contribute to the development of recovery plans utilizing Critical Path methodologies and data analytics. You will have the opportunity to interface daily with program development, deployment, engineering, and finance staff in a team environment, specifically designed to achieve program scope, cost, and schedule success.

The work involves project controls for the design and deployment of satellite access nodes distributed across Australia in support of Viasat’s next-generation satellite gateways.

Job Responsibilities

• Update, maintain, analyze, and communicate project commitments, cost flow, and expenditures while also supporting the monitoring, review, and analysis of cost, schedule, and associated reports
• Forecast project completion costs based on trends including productivity measurements, commitments, scope changes, schedule impacts, equipment cost variance, contract changes, and invoice payments
• Compare forecast versus actual baselines and contribute to the analysis and explanation of variances
• Analyze critical path schedules for a large volume of sites, pool and consolidate that data into high level reports to communicate insights about the Project as a whole (aggregated forecasts compared to baseline plans, spikes in monthly throughput, etc.
• Adhered to program basis of schedule and change management controls
• Compile, validate and prepare supporting reporting material for input to weekly and monthly governance reporting
• Coordinate the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of project reports and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
• Perform project administrative tasks and develop inputs for project cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling to include purchase requisition development, invoice reconciliation, and project finance and accounting reconciliations
• Program and contract compliance management
• Maintain and update company database(s)
• Generate customized reports, pivot tables, and utilize Excel VLOOKUP functionality
• Update and maintain appropriate work breakdown structures for accurate task decomposition, estimating, sequencing, scheduling, and critical path management
• Assist in identifying cost and schedule risk and maintenance of risk and issues register

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Project
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel with advanced skills in formulas, functions, macro, pivot tables/charts and data visualization
• Strong communication and presentation skills, interpersonal, influencing, management and leadership skills
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects, within a virtual team environment, with competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Knowledge of project control functions and processes including planning / scheduling, cost estimating and cost control, change management, financial and project accounting process and systems

Preferences

• MPM and Oracle experience
• Introductory knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM)
• PMP certification or equivalent
