Position Summary
Reporting directly the Engineering and Design Manager, you will be part of the Engineering team in Gamma Technologies. This position will be responsible for the design and installation of Industrial Irradiators.
This position is deemed a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW). A Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) is defined by the Nuclear Safety and Control Act as a person who is required, in the course of the person’s business, or occupation in connection with a nuclear substance or nuclear facility to perform duties in such circumstances that there is a reasonable probability that the person may receive a dose of radiation that is greater than the prescribed limit for the general public (1 mSv per year for the whole body).
Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
The Engineering Associate will report into the Sterilization Engineering department at Nordion’s Kanata location. Responsibilities include the design, manufacturing and installation of Industrial Irradiators. Strong Project Engineering and Project Management experience is required. A key part of this position is supervising designers, other engineers/technologists, and suppliers.
Please note that this position will involve approximately 60-90 days/year of international travel to customer’s sites for Irradiator installation and supervision.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

• a Mechanical Engineering degree (PEng or can obtain certification)
• a minimum of 3 years industrial hands on experience with both mechanical as well as some electrical/controls/process experience.

• mechanical design background.

• experience working with Solidworks or equivalent

Additional Requirements

• Training Required: Must complete all required training and certification as a Nuclear Energy Worker
• Ability to travel internationally
