Contract Pharmaceuticals Hiring for Packaging Line Leader – Midnight Shift at Mississauga, ON Full Time

To lead and ensure all packaging activities are performed in accordance with GMP, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) requirements, and Regulatory Standards in regards to safety and quality of the products.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works in compliance with established GMP and safe work practices and procedures, focusing on “Safety First” approach, and using essential personal protective and safety equipment.
• Performs on-line inspection during packaging processes, room and equipment cleaning logbooks and cleaning tags exercising “Right First Time” documentation practices on all documentations.
• Reports any accidents, incidents and injuries or illnesses immediately, and notifies Packaging Supervisor / CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts, or conditions in the workplace.
• Co-ordinate, assign and supervise all assigned activities and outcomes for area of responsibility to ensure production schedule/agreed upon goals and objectives are met.
• Serves as a backup in the absence of Supervisor, conduct shift huddles, oversight to packaging team members and prepare shift reports.

• Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Performs visual checks of equipment, machine guarding and materials before, during and after packaging runs to alert Packaging Supervisor of issues, bottlenecks, and equipment breakdown.
• Exhibits strong mechanical aptitude by performing lot changes, fixing minor equipment issues, and operating all packaging equipment within specifications.
• Summarizes and provides precise information to maintenance staff regarding equipment stoppages / breakdowns so that appropriate solutions can be offered.
• Supports team goals to meet KPI’s and daily schedules, optimize change over times and ensure adherence to labor standards. Assigned tasks related to changeover includes sweeping and moping the floors, wiping down/cleaning exterior and non-critical portions of equipment and packaging lines.
• Perform verification of materials to ensure correct part number during the production run.
• Perform for lot reconciliation, weighing/labelling of rejects, waste, line clearance and preparation of new packaging run.
• Participates in Lean and CI projects. Assists in the implementation of CI initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiencies in packaging department.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: *

• Post-secondary education and 2-3 years of team centered high volume pharmaceutical packaging or regulated industry experience is a similar position.
• Ability to qualify for AQPIC role is desirable.
• Attention to detail, thoroughness, strong mechanical aptitude, and proven technical competency is highly desirable.
• Knowledge and proven compliance to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HPFBI / FDA guidelines, SOP’s, and safety practices.
• Demonstrated proficiency in use of packaging equipment and understanding of packaging processes as it relates to semi-solid dose, liquid, and clinical packaging.
• Demonstrated technical skills, knowledge, and experience to identify and recommend improvements to processes and equipment on packaging lines.
• Ability to coach new hires on safe and efficient operations of packaging equipment.
• Demonstrated capability in computer skills along with familiarity with MS Office is desirable.
• Demonstrated good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: *

• Able to lift and move moderately heavy or awkward objects and skids.
• Long periods standing in one place, processing product on moving belts.
• Repetitive hip and upper body twisting movements.
• Frequent lifting and lowering product cases between floor and chest levels.
• Exposure to noise levels that require hearing protection.
