Principal Engineer – London

An excellent opportunity has presented itself for a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer with talent and drive to be part of the existing infrastructure team to grow and lead by example and create a successful and enjoyable work environment.

The consultancy is based in London and have a client base which is predominantly large residential developers as they have expertise in residential developments for both greenfield and brownfield sites.

Typical projects ranging from around 50 units up to several thousand dwellings. They deliver projects from initial feasibility stage through planning and detail design on to construction, and specialise in drainage, highways, and development infrastructure.

Role and responsibility

• Provide day to day project management and lead the design of multiple schemes across a range of clients.
• Guide and support for junior members of the team, delegate, and check work, ensuring deadlines are met and high-quality drawings and designs are delivered.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders, preparing of fee proposals, taking responsibility for financial control of projects, and undertaking business development.
• The focus of the role is within the pre-planning and planning stage projects, however a good understanding of detail design and technical approval (S104, S38, S278, etc) is required.
• Developing Concept and Detailed Drainage Strategies.
• Developing Levels Strategies and managing production of Earthwork Appraisals.
• Producing Planning Documents such as Flood Risk Assessments/Drainage Technical Notes and Utilities Statements.
• Undertaking Due Diligence reviews to support the purchase of land.

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, a sound technical ability and drive to develop both yourself and others.
• Ability to use MicroDrainage (essential) and AutoCAD, and an understanding of Civils 3D would be beneficial.
• You will have strong knowledge of drainage design, particularly pertaining to building drainage, developing SuDS as well as highway design capability.
• 5-8yrs experience working within a consultancy or developer producing detailed drainage and highways designs. 
• BEng, MEng in civil engineering or equivalent subject. 

•  Ideally you will be professionally qualified or progressing towards a professional qualification (if not chartered you would be supported towards this)

• £45k – £55k (depending on experience)
