There are over 11,000 civil servants working in security roles across government in a range of specialisms including cyber, personnel, physical and technical security. The Government Security Profession Team aims to build a dynamic profession that engages, supports and inspires the existing security community in their careers. We want to upskill our existing professionals and bring in new people with different skill sets to solve the difficult and rapidly changing security issues that we face. Working with a supportive team, you will get a unique opportunity to shape thinking and help professionalise and improve the way we work to deliver security services across government.
There is lots to do at pace by acting as a strong ambassador for the Government Security Profession. You’ll do that as a great team player, passionate about innovating, be an effective planner and people focused, with an eye for creativity and a willingness to operate in an agile and collaborative way.
We are aiming to recruit people from diverse backgrounds to make sure we have a wide range of skills to strengthen our security capability across government. This role would suit someone with a background in resourcing or early talent, also with an interest in pay and attraction strategies.
Supporting the ongoing development and delivery of a Recruitment Advisory Service for the profession, which will advise on attraction, selection, pay and diversity and inclusion
Supporting the implementation of the Cyber pay framework ensuring it is embedded within recruitment practices across the profession
Support in the set up and roll out of secondments with Industry
Working in a project team to develop an internship programme
Supporting on Early Talent to include apprenticeships and fast stream
Supporting the Government Security Senior Talent Forum & succession planning approach.
Undertaking individual ad hoc projects or being a part of cross-team project groups to support all People Strategy pillars for the profession to include: Resourcing, Leadership, Learning and Skills.
We are looking for those wishing to build or progress their career in learning or HR and are looking for candidates with a CIPD qualification or who would be willing to be sponsored to gain such a qualification.
Essential Criteria
Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders;
Good drafting and written communications and confidence in engaging verbally with diverse audiences;
A proactive approach, with the tenacity to deliver good quality outcomes to tight deadlines;
Ability to manage competing priorities effectively;
Strong digital aptitude (including MS Office / Google applications);
Some knowledge of HR practises will be beneficial here, an interest in attraction, talent and recruitment; as will ability in project management.
