Our Student Support Services function makes an important contribution to the NTU student experience, providing a range of specialist and professional services for students and operating in an integrated, multidisciplinary student services context across three University sites.

We wish to appoint an experienced and motivated individual to the role of Student Support Advisor (SSA) within our Student Support Services department. This fixed term role will predominantly be supporting students in Nottingham Law School, based on the City Campus.

The Student Support Adviser Team form part of an ongoing strategy to deliver Student Support interventions within the setting of the academic school. The SSA roles provide support to academic schools in developing and delivering proactive strategies for supporting students. The roles provide early intervention, assessment and risk management to students experiencing a range of personal and practical difficulties and experiences that may impact on their academic progression.

We have adapted our support offer to meet the challenges of the covid-19 pandemic and we will continue to support our team members to work innovatively to ensure that we offer a safe, supportive and responsive environment for our colleagues and students. In line with the University’s blended approach, we are currently offering a mix of on campus, face to face, MS Teams and telephone appointments.

Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of current practice and the provision of support services for students in higher education and the barriers that students may face to a successful university experience. You will also have experience of providing support to vulnerable individuals and working in partnership with other professionals to find solutions.

In addition, you will have strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team to develop and evaluate this innovative service.
