Permanent contract
At a critical time for the Norfolk education system, an opportunity exists for an ambitious, conscientious and successful educational professional to join our Education Quality Assurance, Intervention and Regulation Service as the Adviser for Elective Home Education. We are looking for a passionate individual with the drive and enthusiasm to make a difference to the lives of children and young people across Norfolk.
As EHE Advisor, you will lead the EHE Service in Norfolk ensuring a timely and effective service is offered to families and works closely with other Services and Agencies. The EHE Team has recently undergone a full review of practices and procedures and many changes have occurred with more to follow. This is an exciting time to be appointing a new Lead for the Service as you can influence the way the Service moves forward. You must have QTS, but it would also be advantageous to have experience of some leadership and liaising with a range of agencies and of working with families.
The challenges facing Local Authorities in relation to children and young people who are removed from school rolls are complex and involve ensuring home is a safe place to learn. Nationally EHE is an increased area of interest, so we need a forward-thinking individual. This role presents a real opportunity to contribute to Norfolk’s educational landscape in a varied and unique way.
The successful applicant will lead a small team of eight staff. An understanding of the National Curriculum and key Safeguarding documentation is essential. There is an expectation that you will become the Local Authority’s expert on Elective Home Education, keeping up to date with National changes and liaising with colleagues across other Local Authorities.
You will be the advocate for children and young people whilst maintaining high standards of professionalism. We will be looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to lead, motivate and challenge across a range of circumstances.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Norfolk. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as your role will involve you visiting very rural areas, often with limited public transport.
If you would like to discuss the role with the Senior Adviser responsible for the strategic oversight of the team, please contact Deborah Leahy via email at [email protected] to make arrangements.
This role is available on a full-time, permanent basis, but we would consider more flexible arrangements for a suitable candidate.
