Accountant

Overview

The Accountant is responsible for all financial transactions, records, filings, and reports at Racine Habitat for Humanity. This position works to keep the organization running smoothly with diligence, integrity and collaboration. This person is invested in the mission of the organization and the team they work with.

Responsibilities

Mortgage & Homeowner Management

• Record homeowner mortgage/escrow payments and prepare subsequent bank deposit
• Monitor homeowner mortgage payment status, prepare and send delinquency notifications as needed
• Maintain homeowner escrow accounts – make transfers, pay insurance, and reconcile balances
• Conduct annual escrow analysis, inform homeowners and make necessary changes
• Make annual property tax and homeowner insurance payments

Accounts Payable & Donations/Grants

• Record bills and prepare for review/approval/payment
• Collect lien waivers and W-9’s for all vendor work
• Pay bills in a timely manner
• Record all donations/grants/revenue and prepare checks for bank deposit
• Prepare and send thank you letters/tax receipts
• Record ReStore deposits, calculate ReStore sales, pay sales tax and file supporting documentation

Administrative & Reports

• Assist with annual audit prep and annual budget preparation
• Prepare and administer bi-weekly payroll and remit federal and state taxes
• Keep diligent payroll and tax records, prepare tax forms and reports
• Prepare and file W-2’s and 1099’s annually
• Record all home sales and homeowner information
• Regularly update and prepare financial reports
• Keep the Executive Director and Finance Committee informed
• Assist with other projects and assignments as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficient in Quickbooks online
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines,

and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Flexible, resilient, good natured personality.
• Willing to adapt and learn.
• Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office and Google products, e.g. Word, Excel, Gmail,

Drive, Calendar

Schedule: Flexible

Hours: 20-25 hours a week

Reports to: Executive Director

Compensation: Varies depending on skills and experience
