Salary Classification: Clerk Grade 11/12 ($131,094 – $151,609) with a total remuneration package up to $168,817 per annum

About the Australian Museum
The Australian Museum (AM) operates within the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, is the first museum in Australia and was founded in 1827. The AM provides access, engagement and scientific research to increase our understanding of natural history and culture, particularly of the Australasian region. The AM holds more than 21 million objects of biological, geological and cultural collections and develops programs, exhibitions and school and community education initiatives onsite, online and offsite.

About the Role
The Head of Finance, leads and manages the provision of financial services as well as managing staff and their units resources to provide high quality financial advice, services and systems to the Australian Museum. This role oversees and ensures all AM financial functions; Financial accounting, Management Accounting, Finance Operations, and Business Partnering and associated outputs are provided efficiently, accurately, and in a timely basis.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary Accounting qualifications
- Current CPA or CA
Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing a commercial operation to profitability including managing the delivery of the annual financial statements.
- Up to date and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the International and Australian accounting standards, public sector accounting practices and requirements including the NSW Public Finance and Audit Act 1983 and the Financial Reporting Code for General Government Agencies.
- Proven management level experience working within the financial accounting and statutory reporting function of a commercial organisation.
