The Cost Accountant will possess a keen ability to focus on details and accuracy, be highly organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines, and multitask. Duties and Responsibilities:

Support our facility in Christiansburg, VA as well as a facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada

Take the lead role in the financial cost implementation of SAP; Monitor, maintain, analyze, and provide product and project costs in ERP system

Establish/review standard costs; Evaluate labor and overhead rates

Oversee inventory accuracy; Reconcile inventory and resolve any variances; Interface with all departments to help manage inventory/cost saving initiatives; Assist with annual audit; Assist in forecasting; Maintain and/or review of Estimates at Completion (EAC)

Analyzing changes in product design including materials, labor, and machine requirements to determine effects on costs; Preparation of management reports related to pricing and profitability; Provides manufacturing with financial information and advice to improve plant performance.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting combined with a minimum five (5) years’ of relevant accounting experience
• Professional accounting designation or working towards completion, will be considered an asset
• Ability to correctly identify financial situations and produce logical solutions to support the business
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with attention to detail and manage tight deadlines
• Understanding of an ERP system (preference given to SAP experience)
• Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products.
• This job requires access to US export-controlled information

• Preference will be given to those with cost experience in a manufacturing environment
• High level of integrity and professionalism, while maintaining confidentiality
• Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and analytical skills as well as a keen willingness to work independently
