Full-Stack Software Engineer – Immediate Availability
Type: Full-time on-site

Location: Champaign, IL

Illinois Rocstar has an immediate opening for a Full-Stack Software Engineer in Champaign, Illinois. You’ll work in a small team where you’ll be given the opportunity and responsibility to have true ownership as we build out products. You will collaborate with subject matter experts in scientific research areas to build and test marketable prototypes. If proven to be successful, these prototypes will be transformed into fully commercialized products that are impactful to the scientific community. We need a full-stack engineer who can tackle complex problems in both frontend and backend and has a track record of shipping and maintaining software.

Who You Are

• Have a BS in computer science with 3+ years of relevant experience or MS in computer science with 1+ years of relevant experience
• Have a willingness to develop in both a front-end and back-end capacity.
• Are passionate about user experience.
• Have a self-starter mentality and thrive in fast-paced environments.
• Are a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident (required).
• Live in or are willing to relocate to the Champaign, Illinois region (required).

Required Skills

• Good skills in JavaScript or TypeScript with React
• Basic familiarity with Python

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with Unix-based operating system and shell scripts
• Strong knowledge of AWS or other public cloud services
• Deep understanding of REST architecture and API design
• Proficiency with Django REST framework or Flask
• Experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
• Web software architecture and design
• Familiarity with CI/CD
• Familiarity with databases

Illinois Rocstar focuses on scientific software development, cloud-based distribution, and enabling engineering Software-as-a-Service. Current projects involve developing computer models and simulation codes in many different engineering and scientific areas. Pay: $71,347.00 – $158,210.00 per year
