Job Title: Career and Vocational Services Director
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
Required Skills:
The Director of Career & Vocational Services supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the university. Under the general supervision of the Dean for Academic Affairs, directs the operations, and development of career services for students and alumni. Career & Vocational Services focuses on providing counseling and assistance concerning career and vocational decisions. Important knowledge and capabilities necessary include career counseling techniques, knowledge of job trends and career development skills, effective public relations and networking abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. An understanding of the principles of college student development and the policies and structure of a typical four-year, private university is preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Provides career counseling and referrals to assist students with the career development process, including clarifying objectives and obtaining occupational information.
· Provides individual career counseling and coaching.
· Teaches SAGE 125 and SAGE 381 each fall and spring semester.
· Provides career planning assistance through appointments with individuals, online assistance, and regularly scheduled workshops and classroom presentations.
· Assists students with the career development and planning process, including obtaining information on companies, current opportunities for employment and hiring practices, and making the transition from college to career.
· Directs the Internship program for the campus.
· Plans and implements job fairs and on-campus recruiting events.
· Serves on the Metrolina Career Consortium committee.
· Conducts the annual graduate outcomes survey.
