Straus News Hiring for Controller Job at Chester, NY Full Time

MEDIA COMPANY CONTROLLER

Straus News seeks a highly qualified individual with the education and experience to guide the reporting and finances of the company. The Controller will oversee the accounting team, monitor and implement internal financial controls, and be responsible for financial reporting and budgeting. This is a hands on position working alongside a staff of two.

The successful candidate will have a degree in accounting and at least 5 + years of experience with a firm grasp of GAAP. Strong Excel and Quickbooks skills, analytical abilities and a passion for streamlining functions through technology are a must.

The Controller maintains Straus News’ general ledger accounts, including accounts payable/receivable, preparation of monthly financial reports, payroll, HR management, building and office management, and IT supervision.

Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, with others, and with minimal supervision. The Controller reports to the President and serves as a key member of management. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to manage staff in a small office environment is essential.

We will look to the Controller to:

· Drive growth and profitability

· Provide up to date and accurate financial information

· Help collect and maintain cash

· Ensure redundant systems

· Handle multi company financial reports

· Be detail oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Spanish language and knowledge of Manhattan is a plus. Job is full time and is located in Chester, NY
