The Azure DNS team is looking for a Software Engineer II to design and implement a highly available,

scalable, and low latency service that allows customers to seamlessly resolve DNS queries between their

Azure and on-premises environments. The developer will work with a team of other software engineers to

design and implement various components that constitute this state-of-the-art distributed systems solution

and ensure a timely execution of the components with high quality. Think building and managing ultra-low

latency, fault-tolerant and scalable DNS resolution infrastructure for millions of customers. This is an exciting

position in an area of large and expanding investment for Microsoft Azure and offers a terrific opportunity

Azure DNS enables other innovations in Azure by providing a robust platform for resource naming across

all Azure features like Compute, Storage, Databases and Software Defined Networking. This provides an

• Develop code that consistently meets team standards and is thoroughly tested, with minimal

regression rates.

• Develop and execute test plans. Implement monitoring and alerting of impact at appropriate

points in the process, from developer inner loop to testing in production (TIP).

• Design cloud solutions using microservice architecture and other techniques. Package your

solutions up with a bow and make them easy and attractive for other teams to follow in your

footsteps.

• Plan for tomorrow by architecting maintainability into the product.
• Put customer first and display Customer Focus by mitigating experience impacts as an on-call engineer and being diligent about root-cause analysis.
• Help build our team culture by adding your values to our existing ones like being open, listening

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of development and design experience in object-oriented languages, with responsibility

ownership across entire features. Coding is a primary requirement of this job.

• Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communicator with leadership drive.
• Experience in building scalable and fault-tolerant services, with a strong drive to build solid

platforms.

• Experience in service delivery technologies (like ASP.NET Web API) and industry standards (REST,

OData, JSON).

• Experience with Cloud Compute, Cloud Storage and Cloud Database, preferably Azure.
• Experience and/or understanding of TCP, UDP, HTTP(S), DNS, Data-center Networking is a plus.
• BS or MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experiences.
