General Summary of Position

The Accounting Manager’s primarily responsibilities will be to support and lead the functions of Accounts Payable, Billing, and Inventory Management and Reporting. This will be an active hands-on role, taking a position of leading by example, taking responsibility for your results and the results of those you lead and support. Identifying and implementing process improvements is critical to the success in this role. Effective communications within the corporate functional groups and with the business operations is vital to the overall performance of the leadership role.

Essential Duties

Accounts Payable and Billing

• Through coaching and support, lead and develop the AP and Billing Supervisor and other team members:
• Identify opportunities for improvements and help to implement the improvements.
• Identify and provide reporting metrics that help benchmark functional performance and track improvements.
• Take a lead role in identifying an image solution that is effective and efficient that provide significant improvements in time, accuracy, and eliminate activities that are redundant or unnecessary.
• Actively engaged in the month close process, ensuring closing is on time and complete.
• Support the fixed asset management and reporting function for the company.
• Actively engage and support the various payment processes through the month.

Inventory

• Through hands on engagement and coaching of the Inventory Accountant, lead the corporate accounting responsibilities relating to sound inventory management and reporting:
• Ensure branches are well informed of their assigned inventory count schedule, and have all the necessary documentation relating to inventory that will assist the branch to complete a successful count.
• Analyze the status of critical reports to assess the status of and readiness for an effective inventory branch count. Communicate these findings and recommendations, with follow up, to branch personnel.
• Support branch counts with research as requested before, during, and after count.
• Review branch inventory variance report and explanation of variances. Assess if further research is required before updating Chempax with the count.
• Update Chempax inventory count, saving and communicating all relevant reports associated with the update.
• Assemble inventory costing worksheet and update the reconciliation mix report with findings. Complete all relevant reconciliations procedures assuring proper cut offs were achieved, or accounted for in the reconciliation.
• Communicate and record final results of inventory reconciliation process to all relevant parties.
• Communicate recommendations for improvements that can be done by the branch that would result in improved results regarding maintaining accurate inventory reporting throughout the inventory cycle and in the performance of an inventory count.
• Update and maintain all relevant inventory process documentation.
• Ensure all reporting relating to inventory, excess inventory, obsolescence, and months on hand calculations are accurate and timely.

Other Inventory related activities

• Provide leadership in updating and maintaining inventory related procedures and documentation.
• Ensure all reporting relating to inventory, excess inventory, obsolescence, and months on hand calculations are accurate and timely.
• Assist in monthly close procedure relating to inventory and cost of sales.
• Actively involved in inventory relating activities relating to year-end financial close and external audit.
• As needed, branch visits that assist the branches in learning and improving in preparing, completing a count, and the research on variances if needed.
• Assist with other inventory or costs reporting or analysis as determined by your direct report.

Manufacturing Cost Rates

• Maintain manufacturing cost rates on a periodic basis for several entities and manufacturing processes. Continually analyzing the methodology of the costing process, ensuring any changes in environment and processes are considered.
• Provide recommended changes through well thought out and articulated conclusion and how these changes would impact the operations and financial results.

Closing Support

• Support the Corporate Controller in effective and timely month and year end close activities
• Be an active participant and leader in the year end audit engagement.

Reporting and Ad-Hoc Projects

• Support the Corporate Controller and other members of the corporate accounting team with regular required reporting, ad-hoc reporting, and other project activities that relate to analysis or process improvement.

Supervisory Requirements

• Direct reports would include the Senior Inventory Accountant and the AP and Billing Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Eight to ten years of experience in Accounting, with significant involvement in inventory reconciliation and manufacturing rates. Prior accounting leadership experiences is required.
• Prior experience in leading and supporting other in accounting.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to think independently.
• Highly effective and confident, with “RESPECT” (Recognition, Empowerment, Supportive Feedback, Partnership, Expectation, Consideration, and Trust), when engaged with operations at all levels.
• Excellent communication skills and strong presentation skills.
• Highly proficient in MS Excel (includes proficiency in use of most of the common and high performance functions)
• Experience in ERP systems and extracting and converting it into actionable information.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
