The Random House Group Limited Hiring for Part Time Finance Analyst (London or Essex) Job at London, England Full Time

We have a new opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join our Group Finance team on a permanent, part time basis (3 days per week) here at Penguin Random House UK. This role can either be based at our London offices or at our Distribution centre in Colchester, Essex.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play an integral role in providing financial and commercial support to the business, assisting with the collection, preparation and presentation of financial and management information.

This information supports and informs decision making within the team and contributes to the maintenance and development of relevant reporting and information systems.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting budget and forecast preparation including budget KPI packs
• Monthly management accounts – preparation of profit and loss and balance sheet where relevant, including the preparation and posting of journals
• Supporting the Finance Manager with continuous improvement of all reporting, analysis and commentary
• Undertaking additional tasks as required and streamlining processes where appropriate
• Analyse costs against budget/forecast
• Conveying financial information to non-finance people
• Ad hoc financial analysis and/or financial project work
• Working with the Central Finance team to ensure costs and benefits are allocated fairly to the business and at the same time promote accountability
• Ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures

The successful candidate will have excellent numeracy skills and will be committed to adding value to the business and the wider Finance team. The ability to analyse, evaluate and interpret commercial and financial data is essential, and any past experience of using financial accounting systems is beneficial. Ideally you will have experience in a junior finance or accounting role, and will be working towards a professional qualification.

You’ll be a fast learner of new IT systems and processes and will be a proficient user of Microsoft Excel (e.g VLOOKUP, SUMIF, pivot tables, INDEX/MATCH) will be able to build strong working relationships easily and effectively. Your time management, prioritisation skills and attention to detail will be key here.

Pro rata salary (3 days per week): Up to £18,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
