Leading a team of 2, the Finance Manager – Energy will be responsible for the accurate accounting of the energy business P&L and Balance Sheet (including derivatives). This role will also be responsible for the performance reporting for the energy business, including trend analysis, actual v budget/forecast, down to state level trends and drivers.

You will also be responsible for the monthly pack preparation and will have the ability to explain the energy results clear and concisely.

The day to day

• Financial / Management accounting for the Energy Business
• Energy performance reporting, including preparation of analysis for monthly business reviews and monthly meeting packs
• Advise any process improvements to the energy operational team and billing teams
• Facilitating a team environment and coaching and mentoring staff
• Energy Cashflow and working capital analysis
• Establish yourself as the “trusted advisor” for the energy business, particularly to the GM Finance Operations & Performance, GM Energy Product and Chief Executive – Retail
• Key point of contact for auditors
• Manage the energy month end process
• Reviewing the monthly results, investigating variances and providing commentary
• Provide inputs to budgets and assist FP&A with budgeting and forecasting
• Leading process improvement projects

What you will bring to the table

• Chartered accounting experience gained in big 4 or mid-tier firm
• CA/CPA qualified
• Energy industry experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to manage a team during COVID; majority of communication will be done using video conferencing
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with competing priorities
• Strong leadership skills
• Solid technical skills
• Drive and initiative
• Having an eye for process improvement and the confidence to express constructive recommendations
