S*chool Bus Division Dispatcher*

Report to: School Bus Division Manager

1. Primary Focus

Reporting to the School Bus Division Manager (known as Manager), the School Bus Division Dispatcher is responsible for providing day to day school bus route and charter dispatch in School Bus Division, complying with standard operating procedures, all tenets of working contracts and documenting all driver absenteeism and route changes.

2. Responsibilities

· Coordinate the daily operations (driver, routing and vehicle activities) necessary to assure safe, on time service and customer satisfaction;

· Assemble and maintain a master list of all routes and trips; accurately track driver log-on times and log-off times using the dispatch schedule and GPS features;

· Maintain a current list of spare drivers and spare vehicles available and report any shortages and other issues to manager in a timely manner;

· Assign drivers to cover open routes when a driver is absent or any vehicle breakdown;

· Track and record all driver absenteeism (route coverage by other drivers) via the exception report on a daily basis making sure reason of absenteeism is documented;

· Report any abnormal or excessive book-off or personal running late to Manager;

· Submit exception report and check-in sheets to accounting on every Monday morning for prior week for payroll purposes;

· Assist drivers with routing directions and communicate special service requirements;

· Coordinate emergency response network when there is a problem on a route;

· Provide assistance to drivers and exercise discretionary judgment as necessary to ensure that routes and trips are performed safely and on-time;

· Maintain the highest level of ethical behavior with our customers, fellow employees and the communities we serve;

· Encourage compliance with company policies and procedures;

· Discuss any breach of policy and procedure noted with Manager;

· Assist in the consortium of all changes in route assignments, emergency situations, accidents, breakdowns or any other event that will disrupt service;

· Maintain route compliance to tenets of the consortium of working contracts with customers;

· Coordinates vehicle service schedules with Safety Manager to assure uninterrupted service;

· Assign activities and special trips to drivers pursuant to established policies and procedures;

· Responsible for field trip and charter scheduling, which involves taking trip orders by email or by phone, assigning trips, logging trips etc

· Assist with route coverage when necessary;

· Any other work assigned by Manager.

3. Specific Competencies

3.1 Required Knowledge

· Knowledge of school bus transportation;

· Knowledge of CVOR and MTO requirements for school bus transportation;

· Intermediate proficiency in Word and Excel.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
