Job Summary

Lake Travis STEM Academy is seeking a Lead Teacher for Second Grade Literature, and a Co-teacher for Kindergarten and First grade Literature classes.

LTSA is a private school combining Experiential Learning and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) integration into our classroom instruction. Our Students attend classes 4 days a week M-Th with an optional Friday Enrichment Day. Our curriculum is based on Experiential Lessons that are STEM centered and emphasizes inquiry-based learning, problem solving, and the development of 21st century skills.

Requirements:

• Applicant needs to be a creative, experiential facilitator that can integrate STEM and experiences to give lessons real world application.
• Must enjoy having a “hands on” classroom that is very collaborative.
• Must love learning and is excited and passionate about alternative ways to make learning fun!
• Must be highly organized!
• Must be highly interested in creating curriculum and integrating lessons/projects across the other areas of study.
• Must be a team player!
• Must have experience teaching multilevel elementary classes.

Hours: 8:30-12:30 Monday- Thursday

• 3 hours a day in the classroom and 1 hour a day of team planning.

Responsibilities and Duties

A. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, problem based, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.

B. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.

C. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

D. Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports and student portfolios.

E. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.

F. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

G. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

H. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.

I. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with guidelines.

J. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.

K. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.

L. Administers diagnostic evaluations for each student according to LTSA standards.

M. Participates in curriculum development and training programs as required.

Q. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

Qualifications and Skills

Must have a four year degree. Must have experience teaching elementary grades.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
