Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will manage the Western Australia/Northern Territory Business Units portfolio of project financial requirements including, assessment of financial risks, ensuring project financials are maintained appropriately and providing support to the business project managers.

The role

In this role you will:

• Manage the portfolio’s project financial risks including detailed review of WIP and Debtors.
• Maintain and monitor individual project’s financial performance and ensure contract adherence, monthly billing and revenue recognition along with monthly project reconciliations.
• Deliver on activities such as but not limited to: project set-up, project maintenance, contract & variation management, project closure, analytical review of project performance and other special project activities as assigned.
• Championing best practice, as well as consistency with the rest of the APAC division, in project controls, change management, cost control and contract management
• Act as the gatekeeper for all financial and contract aspects related to projects.
• Ensuring projects are set up in accordance with contract, contract exists and appropriate budgets are assigned for backlog reporting.
• Assisting the Project Managers to generate appropriate revenue recognition as well as provide support where needed during billing process.
• Support project managers (if required) to produce forecasts on specific projects
• Resolving and reconciling project issues around cost transactions, WIP, invoicing, revenue recognition and budgets.
• Perform monthly project performance reviews, analysis and reconciliations
• Manage preparation of monthly project operating review reporting including commentary on variances
• Ensure projects are reconciled and closed in a timely manner upon completion.
• Oversee project controls effectiveness and work closely with other finance functions, such as Shared services team.

About you

To be successful you will display –

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration will be highly advantageous though not essential
• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in similar roles within the engineering, construction or professional services industry required.
• Strong contract management knowledge as well as strong understanding of project costing
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
• Analytical capability with strengths in identifying and implementing continuous improvement
• Strong client-focused approach
• Ability to work independently under limited supervision, manage a high volume of work and assess priorities, plan activities and meet strict deadlines
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
