IGD Hiring for Commercial Accountant Job at Watford, East of England, England Full Time

Purpose of this role
We are seeking to recruit a qualified or qualified by experience business support accountant to join our small finance team at our head office in Letchmore Heath, Watford, Hertfordshire.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic professional and commercially savvy. They will be an analytical thinker who can challenge the norm. They will not only have the ability to manipulate and interpret data, they will also be able to present it to a range of stakeholders from different backgrounds.
Although there will be some managements accounts work, the existing finance processes are robust, and the focus of the role is being a grounded business partner to various teams to help them make better informed decisions. The successful candidate will own the financial analysis for these departments, freeing up others to focus on driving the organisation forward. IGD’s most significant cost is employment costs, so optimising how IGD uses resource is a significant part of the role.
Responsibilities of this role
The role reports to IGD’s Financial Controller but will work with stakeholders from across the organisation; duties will include:

• First point of contact with the finance team for a number of departments
• The analysis and interpretation of commercial and non-commercial data
• The production, embedding and interpretation of KPIs
• Input into monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts and annual budget
• Preparing other ad hoc reports with a focus on variance analysis and the reasons why
• Participation at performance review meetings etc
• Review of processes and procedures ensuring they are fit for purpose
• Cover for other team members as required

Reporting Structure
The role reports into the Financial Controller. The role has no direct reports.
Knowledge, skills and behaviours

• Either a qualified accountant or qualified by experience. If already training for a recognised qualification, support will be provided
• IT literate with strong excel skills and the ability to manipulate data
• Good knowledge of accounting systems
• An aptitude to challenge the norm
• Strong influencing, listening and presentational skills
• Intellectually and numerically robust
• Ability to work under pressure
• Track record of challenging and improving business processes
• Effective communicator who acts with diplomacy, discretion and integrity
• Proactive self-starter, with the ability to self-motivate

Location
The role will be based at our head office in Letchmore heath, Watford and remotely as necessary.
