This is an exciting time in the energy industry with the transition to renewable energy. Recent government policies outline plans to facilitate increasing transmission interconnection between states and development of renewable energy zones.

The Opportunity

The position is responsible for developing and executing financial strategies for TransGrid, and managing TransGrid’s relationship with its global investor base.

You will be responsible for leading strategic finance projects, supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), managing TransGrid’s investor base of leading infrastructure funds and managing TransGrid’s corporate finance, tax and investor relations functions.

The focus in all of these areas is on developing and executing an effective financial strategy and managing TransGrid’s balance sheet and capital base to execute on its growth strategy and lead the transition to a low carbon energy future for Australia.

The role is one of TransGrid’s main channels for managing and communicating with its Securityholders. You will have regular interactions with Securityholders to communicate financial results, discuss strategies, and coordinate responses to Securityholder requests from across TransGrid’s business.

You will be a member of TransGrid’s senior leadership team, Finance leadership team and work closely with peers and stakeholders within the Finance business unit and across TransGrid, including with Executives and the TransGrid Board.

The Head of Strategic Finance and Investor Relations will have four key areas of accountability:

Skills & Experience

What we expect from you:

• Extensive experience with managing detailed financial analysis and the evaluation of investment proposals
• Extensive experience with understanding and managing the needs of investors, and identifying the levers that drive shareholder value
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem solving, including developing practical solutions in uncertain environments
• Advanced stakeholder management skills, including working with senior executives, Boards, and investors
• Advanced business and commercial acumen and leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrable experience in driving business performance
• Tertiary qualification in finance, economics, accounting or similar. A Masters or MBA would be highly regarded
• A background in corporate finance, corporate development, management consulting, investment banking, or similar fields
• Experience working with funds in unlisted infrastructure or private equity would be highly regarded
• Knowledge of the Australian energy sector
