The role

We are currently looking for a full-time Assistant Accountant to join the Qld / PNG Division in this exciting opportunity based at our Rocklea State Office. Reporting to the State Finance Manager, you will be required to work closely with our Queensland and Papua New Guinea (PNG) yards in order to:

• Input the daily yard sheets from PNG into the Microsoft Dynamics AX reporting system
• Process local and export sales
• Assist with the month end process for QLD and PNG and the production of the monthly financial package
• Prepare the month end reconciliations for QLD and PNG accounts
• Submit monthly VAT returns and consumption reports and other compliance reporting requirements

To be successful in this challenging position you will be able to demonstrate the following skills or attributes:

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting preferred;
• Proven experience in a high volume, commercial environment;
• High level computer skills are essential and previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2011 is preferred;
• Strong organisational, analytical skills and business acumen;
• Self-driven and proactive in nature;
• High attention to detail and excellent written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills with the confidence to present your findings to the business and communicate effectively over the phone;
• Ability to build relationships across all areas of the business;
• Knowledge of the Scrap Metal Recycling or similar would be beneficial
