Finance Analyst – Perth, WA – 6 Month Contract

Chandler Macleod, in collaboration with Santos, is currently seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to be part of the Perth team. This role is responsible for providing financial information and analysis for the companies Northern Australian assets, including assisting in financial accounting, budgeting and forecasting.

The Finance Analyst will work with the other members of the finance team to ensure analysis for all areas provides a clear understanding of:

• Business financial performance
• The financial impacts of key business decisions
• Individual cost drivers

To be considered, applicants must have:

• Experience in a similar role (O&G Projects)
• Accounting, Commerce or similar Tertiary Degree
• Professional qualification (CA, CPA or equivalent)
• 4+ years accounting experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry
• Sound knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
• Highly proficient in MS office products and data modelling / manipulation
• Experienced SAP S4 Hana user
• Be currently residing in Western Australia
• Have the legal right to live and work in Australia

Core Accountabilities:

Business partnering

• Act as finance business partner to the Northern Australia assets, supporting in financial analysis and decision making.
• Responsible for day to day understanding of the asset financial activities and performance.
• Provide advice to the asset in relation to financial considerations – for example, DOA application, treatment of expenditure, cost management structures.
• Support cost reduction / optimization initiatives.

Joint venture management

• Recognize impact of Joint Venture equities and obligations on asset financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with terms of relevant Joint Operating Agreements.
• Prepare annual WP&B and AFE for operating activities (Opex, C&FA) for the Joint Venture.
• Provide input into WP&B and AFE for projects for the Joint Venture.
• Collaborate with Cost Control team for AFE generation.
• Coordinate the creation or modification of JV master data.
• Support generation of JV cash calls by Financial Services JV team and approve once prepared.
• Provide required inputs for monthly JV financial reporting obligations
• Maintain relevant financial models
• Coordinate JV audits as required (inbound & outbound). Manage responses or close out actions.
• Participate in, or support, JV operating committee.

Cost management & reporting

• Request required master data (WBS, etc).
• Prepare analysis and commentary for monthly results, for feed into Division Performance reporting.
• Prepare asset-level forecast in line with Group and Division timelines and requirements.
• Prepare asset-level input to the annual budget process.
• Provide input to Divisional management reporting requirements to support financial understanding and decision making
• Review and challenge allocation of costs into the asset.
• Identify and implement process improvements in planning, reporting and cost allocation processes.
• Ownership of relevant departmental cost centres. Monitor residual costs.

Month end

• Preparation of monthly accruals.
• Advise on and prepare one-off / ad hoc journals.
• Perform required financial analysis for the asset.
• Provide asset-specific commentary to feed to monthly Asset Performance Review (APR).
• Provide input to monthly flash results for EVP reporting.
