Finance Officer – Rents

We are looking to recruit to our Finance team. Are you good with figures and relish the challenge of working with complex and high volumes of transactions, whilst providing excellent customer service to both internal and external clients?

Ideally you will have or be studying for a financial qualification and have a strong aptitude for analysing and working with figures, together with the ability to multi task and work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

We have a small rents team, so you will be expected to work closely with your colleagues and cover many aspects of the teams duties, so it’s a busy and fun environment to work in, with challenges ahead as we look to continuously improve systems and our customer experience.

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Collecting, recording and posting of all Income Streams into the business on a daily basis

• Maintaining accurate accounting for all the organisations income including rents, service charges and other sundry income.

• Ensuring the financial and housing systems are reporting data consistently and are regularly reconciled

• Completing rent accounting adjustments eg rent refunds

• Reviewing the groups debtors ledger and preparing aged debt reports and supporting in the recovery of cash payments

• Reporting on arrears, bad debts and cash recoveries. Working with front line colleagues identify key risks and corrective actions around rent collection and the successful management of housing benefit claims and payments

• Completion of Bank reconciliations together with the creation of appropriate journals into the finance system as part of monthly management accounting.

• Provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers, working with them to constantly improve service delivery and levels of customer satisfaction.

• Assist the Income Accountant – Service Charges with the monitoring, preparation and delivery of a sound rent and service charge scheme.
