The Fleet Manager for Bay Shippers, LLC is accountable for coordinating the assignment and execution of local and regional freight on company trucks. They oversee, communicate, plan, work with, assist and support the drivers in achieving our customer service goals, while establishing and maintaining positive and professional working relationships with dispatch staff, drivers, and customers alike. The Fleet Manager should continually seek ways to improve the day-to-day processes and increase efficiencies. This position requires initiative, problem-solving skills, and a strong desire to provide exceptional service to current and prospective customers, working closely with them to creating repeat business and building greater freight volumes. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Forecast freight volumes and align company assets to service our customers; adjust, adapt, and change plans according to customer needs.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries with shippers and receivers; coordinate and execute driver dispatch schedules in the most efficient manor to maximize profitability (loaded miles) while ensuring customer requirements are met.
• Monitor, and enforce as needed, driver hours-of-service, speed, hard-brakes, and other fleet safety & regulatory compliance issues. Coordinate with the Operations Manager and Safety Department when drivers need training, disciplinary action, renewals.
• Track driver progress, hours-of-service, load status, and ensure accurate and timely updates in appropriate systems while being prepared to quickly answer customer inquiries or address potential issues before they occur.
• Prepare all driver outgoing paperwork and collect incoming paperwork; use TMW dispatch software to build and dispatch orders accurately; transition paperwork/POD daily with all requisite information needed for the billing department to correctly invoice orders.
• Report and/or coordinate repair of equipment with in-house staff or outside vendors; communicate plans and updates with drivers.
• Carry out other related duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must ensure attendance and punctuality within company standards.
• Accuracy with data, sound decision-making, ability to multi-task and prioritize, attention to detail in completing tasks.
• Maintain focus in daily activities to achieve safe and legal transit of customer’s goods.
• Professional, dependable self-starter that can work without supervision.
• Be available outside of duty hours to assist drivers, staff, and customers with important problems or changes in scheduling.
• Must comply with all corporate, local, state, and federal work & safety rules.
