About the team

This role sits within the Finance Team which is currently part of the Corporate Service Division of Sydney Metro which supports the whole organisation including Operational and Project teams with best-in-class IT, Technology, People and Culture services, Financial Management and Communications functions. We partner closely with the business as well as with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance, be effective finance business partners and manage annual budgets in the billions of dollars.

The opportunity

Right now, we have an opportunity for a Director Finance Transformation to join Sydney Metro within the Corporate Services division.

The role is responsible for the design and development of the implementation strategy. The implementation strategy encompasses all aspects of the Financial Transformation and Finance Strategy to ensure Sydney Metro has the appropriate and aligned finance operating model, systems, processes, and reporting to meet its strategic objectives.

The role will collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to leverage insights and formulate plans and activities. The ideal candidate will lead a team to drive implementation and change management activities. The role is accountable for regular reporting to the CFO, Executive, and Board, to inform key strategic decision making concerning the Financial Transformation for the organisation.

Key accountabilities include:

• Develop and formulate a finance strategy, finance organisational design, change management activities, finance systems, and technology road map, finance process improvements, and development of a range of standard financial controls
• Drive the formulation of an implementation plan concerning multiple finance-related initiatives
• Work effectively with respective divisions, including Finance, PMO and Commercial teams
• Drive impactful and real change with buy-in from key stakeholders to synergise, standardise, reduce duplication, and leverage technology to improve and focus on community value

About you

You will have extensive senior finance experience including managing transformative initiatives and change programs in large complex organisations especially in finance and finance systems.

Qualifications in Finance and/or Accounting with a CAANZ, CPA, or equivalent membership.

Ideally, you also have a strong grasp of how to influence and build relationships with senior leaders, financial business partnering and a commercial mindset with the public sector goal of community benefit.
