Liberty Mutual Insurance Hiring for Solutions Engineer, Software Job at Remote Full Time

The Heart Train within Business Lines Technology is looking to hire a Solution Engineer to join us on our stability journey and to migrate eCLIQ Traditional to the cloud! In this role you will be exposed to all aspects of the technology stack that have a direct impact on system performance and stability. You will analyze system performance data and make recommendations that directly influence application design and architecture for the benefit of our Agents and Underwriters. The Heart Train is a collection of teams focused on platform stability, platform modernization and delivering incremental business value which directly contribute to improving Business Lines profitability and exceptional end-user experience. You’ll partner with other Solutions Engineers in the Heart Train and across the organization to help us deliver exceptional business value while continually advancing and improving our architecture.

We’re looking for a technical leader who is excited to learn, flexible, and who desires to be part of a fun and hard-working team culture. The successful candidate will have awesome engineering and collaboration skills, agile delivery experience and has successfully served as a technical leader for one or more teams. Most importantly, we want someone who can help us tackle significant challenges while helping maintain a fun and collaborative atmosphere!

This role can be based at any Liberty Mutual location in the US or be fully remote but would need to be willing to adjust their schedule to generally stay aligned to the Eastern time zone due to a number of team members working off-shore who align around this time zone.

This position can be based in Indianapolis, IN or be fully remote.

In this job you will…

• Be a technical leader, mentor, and coach for 3+ teams on the train
• Collaborate closely with other delivery trains to coordinate dependencies, align solution architecture, identify and leverage reuse opportunities
• Partner closely with the Sr. Director, Sr. Scrum Master, Sr. Product Owner, Engineering Managers and aligned Architect to help guide, lead, and influence the work aligned to the release train
• Play the role of a strategic partner. You’ll take the big picture view, whether you’re guiding architecture migrations or maintaining critical relationships with stakeholders and business partners
• Serve as a motivated mentor, exercising your technical chops while coaching and collaborating with more junior software engineers.
• Be a forward thinker. Leading by example, you’ll promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by finding solutions that increase efficiency, accelerate the adoption of new technologies and enhance profitability

Experience Desired

• 10+ years of hands-on software design and development experience in commercial environments, at least 3 of which should be in a technical leadership role.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience developing web applications and services using JAVA/JAVA EE, Spring, and other related technologies, preferably in an agile environment.
• Experience with ACORD standard, cloud computing (AWS) and micro services architecture.
• A comprehensive understanding of agile environments
• Able to integrate with and manage APIs exposing services (REST, SOAP) including development and support of Java/JavaScript services.
• Demonstrated experience developing Web Front Ends using JavaScript, React or Angular, Mongo, Node, CSS, and other related technologies.
• Demonstrated experience of optimizing CI/CD process and tools, automation testing frameworks and practices (preferably GitHub, Jenkins/Bamboo etc.)
• A track record of demonstrating a servant leader mindset

• Solid negotiation, facilitation, consensus building and influencing capabilities
• Ability to identify patterns and problems across teams and deliver effective solutions
• Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances
• A design thinking and test-driven development mindset
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an aptitude for working in teams
• Experience developing or architecting cloud-hosted, responsive web applications using Java, HTML5 and CSSS3
• Strong background in code review
• High-level proficiency with client-side JavaScript frameworks, server-side frameworks, and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures and integration with API exposing microservices
• Deep understanding of layered solutions and designs
• Cognizance of security concerns, from access control and authentication to secured SDLC processes
• Understanding of DCI/MDM systems, data ingestion and cloud-scale data sets
• Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership and accountability.

Education

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
