Working at the Sydney Symphony Orchestra means you are part of an organisation that has presented music in Sydney and around the world for almost 90 years. We work with some of the greatest names in classical music, and present unique on-stage collaborations with performers from across the world of music in our home city.
We are seeking an energetic, qualified current or former music educator who will drive change and make a difference by sharing orchestral music with the broader community, launching new programs as the Sydney Symphony returns to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in 2022.
We recognise that Covid-19 has changed the world. Our staff, our musicians and our rock-solid, loyal customers collaborate every day to create memorable live performances as well as music online.
What will you be doing?
This is an entrepreneurial role with an opportunity to transform the Sydney Symphony’s educational and community programs to respond to the emerging environment so that the Orchestra retains its position at the heart of music and communities across NSW.
What will make you successful?
· Relevant tertiary qualifications in music education strongly preferred
· Previous experience working at a professional symphony orchestra favourably regarded
· Strong understanding of the NSW State Music Education Curriculum and the demonstrated ability to design and deliver curriculum-linked programming that meets the needs of educators
· Strong understanding of the design and delivery of engagement programs in diverse communities
· An entrepreneurial mindset and a motivating personal desire to share music widely using creative approaches
· Collaborative and highly effective approach to engaging diverse stakeholders in the identification and delivery against goals with measurable outcomes
· Strong financial, budgeting and money management skills, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
· Strong writing and public presentation skills
· Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to rapidly develop working skills in company specific business systems including OPAS and Tessitura
· Determination and practicality to guarantee successful delivery all programs
