POSITION: Multi-Site Human Resource Manager/Director
REPORTS TO: CEO
SCOPE: Tulip Richardson Manufacturing is looking for an energetic hands-on Human Resource Manager/Director who is a self-motivated team player with the desire to succeed and grow within the company. They will lead the HR responsibilities at multiple facilities located in different states throughout the mid-west. This position will be based at the company’s headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The multi-site Human Resources Manager will actively participate at the multiple locations with responsibilities listed below. The ideal candidate will be able to form strong partnerships with union leadership and operations management, they will also assist with the execution of company business goals and HR safety initiatives. They will be required to maintain general knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations affecting HR functions as well as recruiting qualified talent and assist with building a strong bench. They must possess excellent organization, communication and multi-tasking skills. This position reports directly to the HR Director with a dotted line to the CFO and will ultimately replace the HR director upon his retirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Generates policies on personnel issues to meet the needs of the corporation
· Serves as chief spokesperson in labor negotiations (UAW and UE)
· Represents the company in the final grievance step before arbitration
· Counsels managers on employee relations matters
· Managers talent acquisitions and oversees employees screening and reference checks candidates for managerial positions
· Provides sufficient staff on a weekly basis to meet production needs
· Administers Personnel Files – Completes and maintains paperwork and leads upgrades to digitalize files on HRIS across both sites, including employee records, attendances, vacations and leave requests, verification of employment forms from both credit and government agencies, advises supervisors on disciplinary actions.
· Maintains patent files and holds semi-annual reviews of the patents to establish tactics to preserve company’s “barriers of entry”
· Administers Benefits – Calculate employee deductions per union agreement with Health, Dental, Life, Short-term Disability, Long-term disability, Workers Compensation
· Administers Compensation – Oversees wage and salary administration, performance reviews, participated in surveys and governmental reporting
· Analyzes business insurance coverage to ensure the corporation is adequately protected
· Helps finance with reviewing business insurance coverage to optimize cost/benefit relationship
· Administers and updates company’s employee policies and procedures including handbooks, rules, attendance, discipline
· Ensures legal compliance with Government regulations – Wage and Hour, OSHA, Unemployment Compensation, EEOC, etc. and attends meetings and hearings representing the Company
· Develops and updates the corporate safety programs and safety manual designed to reduce frequency and severity rates, to comply with OSHA regulations, and to lower the cost of Workers’ Compensation insurance
· Takes ownership of all open Workers Compensation Claims to ensure prompt and satisfactory resolution
· Serves on the ISO Steering Committee and is responsible that all HR requirements are met; reports on quarterly, corporate review meetings
· Monitors and audits EPA compliance
· Plans and implements training programs
· Reviews monthly results of safety surveys of all the plants
· Conducts safety training seminars or arranges for presentations by safety consultants
· Occasionally acts as company spokesperson to the media for special situations
· Participates on the investment committee
· Maintains a relationship with 401(k) administrator and broker, 401(k) testing
· Understands forms 5500 and tax compliance
· Supervises HR personnel at all facilities
· Performs any other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Eight or more years’ experience in Human Resources including Labor Relations
· A college degree or equivalent experience; MBA preferred
· Superior interpersonal and communication skills
· Confident, results-oriented doer
· Able to maintain calm and analytical demeanor in confrontational situations
· Certified by the Society for Human Resource Management as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
