What will you be doing?
• Contributing to the translation of business requirements into firm system requirements, ensuring they are sufficiently comprehensive and detailed to support system development

• Providing input to the production of clear functional and non-functional requirements (e.g. capacity, availability, response times, etc.)
• Understanding technical constraints of the live Customer and Risk application, supporting business clients in understanding any ‘requirement versus cost’ trade-offs
• Contributing to the production of end-to-end system technical designs that involve the Customer and Risk application, collaborating with other internal and supplier teams
• Maintaining end-to-end system design components, ensuring quality and integrity throughout the software development lifecycle
• Understanding the various phases of the software development lifecycle
• Producing component designs that are compatible with the end-to-end system design
• Undertaking build activities of complex coding & unit testing following proven coding and unit testing standards

What we’re looking for:
• Extensive Design and Build experience of a customer processing mainframe application, with excellent peer review skills and the ability to share knowledge with Apprentices

• Extensive experience of IBM Mainframe development
• Exceptional level of experience of the following languages and technologies: COBOL, DB2, IMS DB/DC, Stored Procedures & z/OS Connect

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience of leading-edge tools, techniques and services within Mainframe development, e.g. Compuware Topaz, Total Test, Expeditor, File-Aid, Abend-Aid/Dump Solving

• Financial Services experience

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
