Trant Looking for Planning Manager – Southampton at SO40, Totton, Hampshire Full Time

We are currently recruiting for a Planning Manager to head up the Planning Team, based from our Head Office in Southampton. The ideal candidate will need to have a working knowledge of Primavera P6 & MS Project and have a background in the project planning of civil engineering and construction contracts. The Planning Manager will previously have led planning teams, in either a role such as Planning Manager or Planning & Project Controls Lead.

As well as leading your team, you should be able to establish work sequence and activity durations for assigned projects and provide schedule knowledge on a continuous basis to assist in work planning and interfacing with others. It is essential that you possess good written and verbal communication skills and can develop and maintain relationships. You must also have excellent time management & organisational skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Management of Planning resource in order to provide planning support to Trant projects
• Mentoring & Coaching members of your team where required
• Increase the commercial awareness of the Planners and provide support & guidance to encourage career development
• Reviewing programmes in line with company procedures
• Close interaction with and reporting to, the Board of Directors
• Attending client meetings
• Providing hands-on support for planning, tenders, contract programmes & monthly updates
• Work closely with the Estimating team
• Assisting in making resources available for tenders
• Positive promotion of the planning function within the business

• Assist in the preparation of schedule data for contracts
• Work with the Contracts Managers to determine schedule rates for work activities and milestones to support project schedule
• Establish work sequence and activity durations for assigned projects
• CE and Baseline Management
• Provide support with claims & delays
• Attend programme & progress meetings with Client
• Review and analyse the supplier’s schedules submitted
• Develop WIH and FIS reports
• Practitioner of Earned Value, Resourcing & progressing techniques
• Preparation of Project Changes, Budget allocations

Qualifications:

HNC/HND/BSc in Civil Engineering or Construction or by experience

Desired Skills / Background:

• A history of managing Planning Teams and working in a planning role
• Fully IT literate and advanced understanding of using Primavera P6 and MS Project
• Working knowledge of NEC Suite of contracts
• A personable and professional character
• Able to interact at senior level with Directors and clients
• Work calmly under pressure
• Excellent presentation skills
