The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.

We are looking for an Equality Impact Assessment Manager to work within the Finance & Corporate Services Directorate in our Strategic Planning & Governance team. This is a fixed term post for 18 months.

The successful candidate will be required to take a lead role in identifying requirements, taking action, promoting and providing specialist advice on SQA’s obligations to comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty. In order to do this you must be able to demonstrate experience in the following specific duties:

• Manage SQA’s equality impact assessment process, including providing templates and guidance to senior colleagues completing impact assessments of policies, guidelines, processes and working practices to ensure that SQA meets legislative and compliance requirements
• Develop, implement and monitor controls to ensure adherence with SQA’s legal obligations
• Provide specialist advice, regular guidance and subject matter expertise to managers, staff and the public when responding to internal/external ad hoc queries and issues

Additionally you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Excellent negotiating and influencing skills; to be able to influence change
• Experience and excellent knowledge of equality legislation and specifically the Public Sector Equality Duty
• An ability to exercise personal initiative and judgement and proactive

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 (SVQ 4/Ordinary Degree) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role. Also role model the behaviours associated with SQA’s values (Trusted, Progressive and Enabling) in order to develop and sustain a productive and positive culture.
