Leading provider of liquidity to financial markets who trade in listed derivatives, cash equities, ETFs, bonds, commodities and foreign currencies requires a Financial Controller for their APAC operations.

Key Responsibilities include:

Financial Control

Financial Control is responsible for the financial stewardship of the APAC operations, ensuring all Finance related risks and controls are managed, external and internal reporting is completed, and finance services are delivered effectively and efficiently.

The Opportunity

Leading a team of three and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will partner with the Trading, Technology and Control teams to ensure Financial Controls’ agenda is supportive and aligned to the organisational wide strategy. In this highly collaborative role, you will be required to motivate and coach team members to deliver change across various finance processes as the function embarks on continued automation after a successful major system transformation in 2019. You will offer insights with respect to accounting, tax, remuneration benefits and accounts payable and have a strong compass that guides your assessment of risk and control issues.

Responsibilities

In this dynamic and exciting role, your main responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing all internal and external financial reporting and filings for all APAC offshore legal entities are completed accurately, timely and are fully understood in the context of the business’s operations.
• Managing the management reporting function. Consistently innovate and evolve these processes and improve related forecasts and budgeting.
• Managing the tax accounting aspects of these entities in partnership with the Tax team (including income tax, GST, FBT, transfer pricing).
• Managing the treasury requirements for the business, ensuring robust cash and capital forecasting, non-trading FX management, optimising cash return / liquidity while maintaining a high standard of control and accuracy.
• Managing the record keeping and operational requirements of banking relationships and controls
• Driving various technology transformations through to smaller process efficiencies. Partnering with other Control teams and global offices to ensure initiatives are best practice and fit for purpose.
• Developing and leading a team of three, focused on delivering results against ambitious and value driven goals.
• Helping to further enhance the Control Framework across Finance to ensure risks are identified, mitigated and controlled.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have a strong background in technical financial accounting and reporting, with a focus on business controls and demonstrated experience as a Finance Manager. With a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience you will be able to provide clear examples of operating successfully in a fast-paced environment, driving change programs and advising business operations on internal controls, technical accounting and regulatory issues.

To be considered for this role you will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Business;
• CA/CPA qualified or international equivalent;
• Detailed technical accounting, statutory reporting, regulatory capital and taxation rule comprehension with experience in advisory and implementation;
• Demonstrated experience in managing small teams to meet deliverables in a high performing environment;
• Strong attention to detail with experience in operational activities
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to package information in a clear and concise manner.
• Excellent problem solving & analytical skills;
• Proven ability to influence a diverse set of stakeholders;
• Proven experience in automation tooling, keeping abreast of the latest technological innovations in their field;
