The role
Based in the firm¿s Birmingham office, and working alongside and reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner and Senior HR Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and well-respected HR team. This role will provide generalist HR Assistant support to the Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester offices. The role will include regular contact with the wider HR team, Partners and employees across the organisation.
This is a fully generalist HR role where you will be involved with a range of tasks. Some of the activities will include the following; recruiting for business service and executive support service roles from start to finish. This will include advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, production of offer paperwork and on-boarding of new starters. You will need to work closely with the recruiting managers across the firm throughout the process. You will support with annual salary research for salary reviews, checking salary letters and keeping the HR systems up to date throughout. The HR Assistant is required to process monthly payroll by working closely with other team members including the Payroll Advisor, to ensure deadlines are met and data is accurate. You will need to schedule timely reminders for end of probation meetings and ensure paperwork is returned on time, whilst liaising with the Senior HR Business Partner in relation to any probation extensions. You will maintain absence records accurately in the HR system and generate absence reports to monitor sickness levels. When appropriate you will discuss sickness levels with line managers and employees. You will process leavers in the firm and hold exit interviews . There is also the opportunity to get involved with wider HR projects firmwide.

The person
This is a busy and challenging role and, to be successful, your background will include previous HR experience or knowledge and experience of using computer based systems such as databases, external platforms etc. As you will be supporting over 300 staff and Partners based in the offices, you will need the ability to deal quickly and accurately with a high volume of work with conflicting deadlines.
In addition to some general HR experience, the role requires a candidate with a good knowledge data processing. You will need an approachable, proactive and professional working style, with a calm and methodical approach to your work and good attention to detail. You will have a common sense approach to problem solving and be able to explain more complicated matters to staff and partners in a simple and straight forward way either verbally or in writing. In addition, you will be a self-starter, willing to take accountability for tasks, have strong communications skills and have an appetite for learning and retaining knowledge.
