About the role:

The Academic Support Officer provides high quality administrative support for the Faculty’s academic programs within the Office for Environmental Programs (OEP), School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (SGEAS).

This crucial role provides policy and procedural advice to the OEP staff and student-related central staff in all matters relating to student progression. Additionally, the role provides quality administrative support to course conveners and students and implements effective processes for academic programs administration in the OEP.

Reporting to the School Operations Manager in School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences you will be imperative to the smooth operations of the front of house and be the key interface between students, staff and the school.

About you (key selection criteria):

To be successful in obtaining this position you will ideally posses

• A completion of a degree without subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the provision of higher education student administrative support. Experience in providing support to a range of committees
• Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of excellent customer service and continuous improvement to the standard of service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal with a range of people internal and external to the University, and the ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Demonstrated self-motivation and flexibility, with the capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and ability to respond to competing demands.

Other:

• A current and valid Working with Children Check.
• There may be isolated occasions where weekend work is required i.e. Annual Open Day.
