CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER VACANCY
Salary circa £85,000 FTE depending on experience
Location: Based in Lower Earley, Berkshire
(HYBRID remote working supported)
The Chief Financial Officer role was introduced to assist the charity in developing its financial strategy and transforming it systems and processes. We are looking for a commercially minded individual with an appetite for taking a lead in organisation change. The ability to think strategically; contribute confidentially; direct projects and also be comfortable with the hands-on element of the role is essential. You will be leading and managing Finance and IT with oversight on legal and Company Secretary Activities, and responsibility for Offices and Property.
As CFO you will lead the Finance Team to deliver an outstanding financial support service to the charity. The Chief Financial Officer is a pivotal role within the Senior Leadership Team with overall responsibility for the finances of the charity. The CFO is instrumental in leading and supporting operations to deliver financially viable services.
Full tasks are within the brief, however key activities include:
· Leading the financial strategy of the charity
· Establishing systems for financial control; effective planning & forecasting; and monitoring
· Delivery of a robust IT service supporting digitalisation across the organisational departments
As a qualified accountant you will be fully competent in managing budget setting; you will lead in the provision of timely and accurate financial information, effective cost management and financial assessment of new initiatives. You will work with the team to create budgets and forecasts; monitoring them throughout the year; and work closely with operational budget holders to ensure they understand their financial position.
You will be comfortable leading change with empathy and collaboration, therefore the ability to build internal and external relationships, communicate well and adapt styles to differing audiences is critical. Furthermore as a member of the executive team reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will sit on the Finance & Development Governance Committee. In addition to business as usual, you will also contribute to strategic direction of the charity and the development of new projects, tenders and grant applications providing oversight on the financial aspects. Applications from a solution focused person with an interest in taking the lead to further develop the charity’s finance function through systems and processes would be welcomed.
The success candidate will need to have/be:
· Proven experience at a senior level role
· Significant financial management experience of preparing management accounts
· Experience and knowledge of financial management information systems
· Proven experience leading finance and IT teams.
· Experience of operating at both strategic and operational level.
· Commercially minded with an empathy towards the charity/non for profit sector
· Education to a degree level or a Business Management Qualification with a professional qualification i.e. ACCA, CCAB, ACA, CIMA
To succeed they will need to:
· Be comfortable communicating effectively both orally and in writing; adapting the message for a diverse audience.
· Be skilled at motivating and leading a team effectively.
· Have a high level of analytical and problem solving skills.
· Be confident making important and high level decisions.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive your base will be the Lower Earley office, with hybrid remote working if preferred. You will join us to play a vital role in our objective to ensure autistic adults are valued by society and supported to live happy lives.
