The Sarnia location is the headquarters for ARLANXEO Canada Inc. with a Global Research & Development Centre for Butyl Rubber located in London, Ontario. Purpose:
Responsible for focusing on product quality, customer satisfaction and off spec reduction. This position will lead the continuous improvement of the quality culture in the Butyl unit. This will include the reduction of off spec and the reduction of customer complaints. This position will be the unit interact with internal and external customers in relation to the quality of the Butyl product. This position will manage all customer visits, tours, and complaints.
Responsibilities:
Lead unit efforts to eliminate scrap, reduce offspec and significantly reduce manufacturing customer complaints
Supervise Quality Specialist
Represent the Butyl Unit in Global quality related meetings
Ensures that Lab Data analysis is available as required to other internal Butyl organizations (Production, QA, Engineering, etc.)
Review and analyzes all lab data, reporting to Operations or other stakeholders on results, trends or abnormalities.
Work with Process Engineers to reduce all process off spec
Drive efforts to improve quality performance
Must be championing the efforts to improve quality performance and tenaciously investigate all offspec, scrap and complaints
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement relating to quality practices and ensures that business cases and implementable plans are recommended to Butyl Operations Management.
Monitors, tracks, and works with operations to improve all aspects of the Quality Index
Track statistical quality performance (i.e.: Cpk, Ppk’s)
Works with engineering and quality specialists to find and improve quality issues in the plant. Works with Butyl Supervisor to improve quality performance in the finishing area.
Develops and maintains a system of alerting shift operations as to quality issues on a timely basis, including the communication of all impacted lab results.
Quality technical expert responsible for training and developing the quality knowledge of the various staff throughout the unit.
Provides consultation and expertise to Quality function around daily product grading activities.
Provide consultation and expertise to Butyl Operations around production upsets, abnormal testing results and other matters as requested.
Maintains the knowledge and required certifications to act as the Food Quality liaison for the Butyl unit. This includes ensuring all requirements are meet in process and finishing.
Manages the customer complaint process regarding Butyl products, investigating the complaints and ensuring that all CARs are created and completed in a timely manner.
Manages the RM Acceptance Database as it relates to the release of off-spec shipments.
Manages all customer requests, on site visits and audits
Creates and communicates all customer statistic reports.
Manage the establishment, monitoring and update of Quality KPI’s to including running reports
Participate as required in Weekly Operations Meetings, reviewing all required Reports and KPI’s as they related to Butyl quality issues
Produce the Monthly/Year End Butyl Quality Report
Qualifications:
Related College or University Degree
3 to 5 years related experience
Project Management and Leadership skills
Knowledge of April Star preferred
Ability to multi-task
High communication and team building skills
Knowledge of the Butyl process
The ability to develop and promote continuous improvement initiatives
