Generation Tux Hiring for Senior Software Engineer Job at Remote Full Time

As a Senior Software Engineer for our e-commerce customer facing sites, your responsibilities will be to create and lead performant and high quality user experiences to drive customer traffic throughout the entirety of our customer facing stack. You will work with a team of developers to deploy stakeholder feature requests, innovate ways to increase site performance, mentor mid and junior level developers, and work closely with our UI/UX team to ensure that features are deployed successfully.

This is a Remote opportunity within the United States, you will be working on a roughly 8-am to 5-pm eastern time zone schedule. After onboarding you will be expected to participate in our off hours on-call schedule. This position may require occasional (preferably rare) work on nights or weekends, in the event of a P1 service issue.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience working in a remote team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working across multiple teams, balancing a variety of priorities and projects.
• Significant client-side application or library development experience preferably in ReactJS.
• Experience working with the following languages and frameworks: ReactJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, NodeJS/Express
• The ability to create and maintain a positive, healthy team environment in which everyone is supported, encouraged, and meaningfully challenged to do great work.
• A strong desire to learn and expand your knowledge

Bonus points for:

• Experience with PHP and the Laravel framework
• Experience with React Native
• Experience with Python and the Django framework

Aside from strict technical abilities, you’ll be expected to be a team leader who can work well with other teammates. Communication experience with stakeholders and ability to articulate complex architectures to a group of lay people is ideal.

There are also instances where you’ll be required to work on the creation of backend APIs and continue to establish GraphQL as an organization-wide standard. So, experience in creation of backend apis and a clear conceptualization of how the front end interacts with internal apis is required for this role.

Lastly, SEO and the implementation of third-party tools is something you’ll be working with as well. It is vital that we have insight into how users are interacting and traveling through our customer facing sites, so being able to implement necessary trackers, yet thinking creatively to do this in a performant, SEO friendly way, is crucial for your role. Maintaining high SEO scores and thinking through usability and accessibility needs to be a primary concern and something you’re highly opinionated about.
