JOB SUMMARY

Train, support and manage a team of seasonal and full time employees to safely provide outstanding guest experiences in the areas of Boat tours, House boat rentals, small boat rentals, paddle sport/bicycle rentals, and fuel/bait sales. This position is based out the Flamingo visitor area of Everglades National Park.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Boat tours: Lead a team of captains and crew to safely provide outstanding eco tours in two separate eco systems within Everglades National Park.  Ensure compliance with USCG, USNPS, State of Florida, and other regulatory agencies.  Plan and supervise vessel maintenance, within manufacturer recommendations, and captain vessels when necessary.
• House Boat Rentals: Ensure guest satisfaction on a fleet of (4) 40’ + house boats.  Maintain and develop systems and policies to ensure guest safety.  Maintain systems to monitor and repair damage and loss of equipment.
• Small Boat Rentals: Ensure quality guest experience and safety with a fleet of pontoon boats and 13-17 foot skiffs.  Maintain regulatory compliance.
• Peddle and Paddle Sports: Provide leadership to staff to safely and efficiently provide guests informed access to paddle sport and bicycle rentals.
• Maintenance: Ensure regular maintenance schedules are met for all vessels and assigned equipment; ensure maintenance tracking system is followed. This includes the fuel system.
• Effectively communicate with guest, peers and supervise to maximize guest safety, employee satisfaction, and achievement of unit goals.
• Monitor and maintain fuel tanks and pricing, maintain fuel inventory, and manage spill plan/training.
• Manage live shrimp program and sales. Order shrimp and manage inventory. Train employees on shrimp handling and oversee tank maintenance and cleaning.
• All other duties as assigned by the General Manager

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Current First Aid and CPR Certifications or willingness to obtain
• Member of or willing to become a member of a USDOT approved drug testing consortium
• Knowledge of USCG Small passenger vessel regulations and requirements
• Must have the ability to swim as well the ability to pass a USCG Physical
• USCG 50 ton masters license or greater
• 3-5 years of management experience
• Knowledgeable about Florida and Federal Coast Guard Rules
• Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people; ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities; ability to learn and develop new skills; ability to problem solve.  Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
• Excellent interpersonal, administrative, telephone and other communications skills.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.  Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise moves in a constantly changing environment. 
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to stand for the entire work day and to climb steps regularly. 
• Withstanding temperature extremes and inclement outdoor weather. 
• Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
• Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
• Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in fast-paced environment.
• Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
