Accounts Payable Specialist

As an Account Payable specialist, you will participate in all activities related to Accounts Payable. The best candidate thrives in a changing and rapidly growing environment. A team player is a must. The position interacts with other department personnel to resolve payable matters. The successful candidate for this position must thrive in a dynamic and fast-growing environment and must enjoy hands-on identification and implementation of process changes. This role will report directly to our Account Payable Supervisor, will play an instrumental role in the future of our organization, and is a full-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver a high volume of transactional work with the highest accuracy and timeliness
• Monitor Accounts Payable mailboxes
• Handle vendor correspondence via phone or email, and ensure timely and professional responses
• Research and resolve a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to the appropriate stakeholders
• Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing invoices and payments
• Reconcile vendor account statements
• Create and reconcile Accounts Payable aging every month end
• Provide excellent customer service about Accounts Payable processes to both internal and external customers
• Provide analytical reporting upon request
• Create, lead and or participate in process improvement projects both within Accounts Payable and cross-functional as appropriate
• Assist with 1099 processing and other reporting forms at year-end
• Perform other duties as needed to support the Accounts Payable team

Process Improvement:

• Review all current Accounts Payable processes and workflows regularly, and if necessary, independently recommend changes to achieve more efficient and productive results
• Incorporate a lean approach to problem-solving and process improvement

Job Requirements and Experience:

• 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience
• Strong customer orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and a detail-oriented mindset
• Proactive and positive attitude with the ability to multi-task and to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Workday or a similar large-scale ERP system
• Intermediate level knowledge of Word and Excel
• Ability to prioritize, work effectively and complete assignments on time
• Desire to identify problems and work to resolve them independently or with the team
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal with an emphasis on customer service to provide clear and detailed responses
• Sense of urgency and accountability to follow-up on pending issues or outstanding requests
• Quick and accurate data entry skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.A/B.S.; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and occasional local and/or overnight travel, including exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions. Mode of transportation for travel typically will include automobile and plane.

Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
