Reporting to the Senior Producer of the Podcast Hub’s digital team, the Social Media Editor serves as the singular point of contact and subject matter expert for all social media activities related to CBC Podcasts. This role is responsible for implementing and executing social media strategy across all relevant platforms, ensuring a cohesive voice, presence, and clear path to discovery of CBC digital audio. The Social Media Editor combines strategic vision with hands-on content packaging and sophisticated analytical skills to drive audience engagement and grow the listenership of CBC Podcasts. This is a one-year contract position starting May 4th 2026.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

Strategy & Analytics

• Help develop, implement and execute the overarching social media strategy for CBC Podcasts, with a focus on audience growth, engagement, and conversion to RSS feeds (e.g., managing the “link in bio” strategy & caption language).
• Act as the social team’s research and analytics expert, staying up-to-date on platform algorithms, tools, trends and best practices.
• Own and maintain tracking documentation and internal organizational tools to measure performance and guide strategic decisions.
• Advise and provide guidance to internal teams (including HUB shows like Commotion, Q, and Bookends) on social media best practices to ensure consistency across the wider Podcasts vertical.

Content Creation & Distribution

• Own coordination of content posting and distribution across all relevant social media platforms, maintaining a consistent and optimized publishing schedule (including content for BN, Radio, Crime Story, collabs and more).
• Create and package a minimum of two original vertical videos (e.g., explainer or host-led videos) per month to drive engagement and interest, ensuring all videos are best positioned to perform.
• Execute base-level graphic design and visual identity tasks using tools like Canva to package supporting visual graphics when needed.
• Liaise with the content team to advise on caption writing for social media.
• Explore and develop a presence on emerging platforms like TikTok and Reddit.

Audience Engagement & Partnership Management

• Manage all related inboxes, DMs, and comments, engaging directly with commenters and the broader podcasting community to foster positive interactions.
• Perform community management for all associated platforms, including maintaining dedicated Facebook pages.
• Serve as the key contact for external collaboration opportunities, managing relationships and execution for partnerships with third parties, such as festivals and co-productions.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of comprehensive launch and rollout strategies for priority titles, including social media amplification of CBC Podcasts ‘offers’ (e.g., newsletters and events).

Qualifications And Experience

Experience Required

• 3-4 years of directly-related experience that includes proven knowledge of online and digital news media is a solid benchmark for this level of role.
• Demonstrated experience in social media content packaging, including proficiency in multimedia skills (video, audio, and graphic design).
• Proven ability to research, gather, capture, edit, and manipulate content using current technology.

Education Required

• Job requires a university degree or equivalent.
