Dr. Ken Sauer Fine Arts School Probationary Full-Time Grade 1/2 Teacher Full-time position for the 2026/2027 school year We are seeking an energetic teacher who will be responsible for teaching students in a grade ½ combined class. The ideal candidate for this position is positive, enthusiastic, reflective, collaborative, and creative. The ability to support diverse instructional and learning needs for young students is crucial. An interest or background in fine arts would be considered an asset.
Dr. Ken Sauer Fine Arts School offers Kindergarten through Grade 6 to approximately 380 students. We are proud to offer arts-centered learning and fine arts education through a whole school approach. Applicants should have a strong understanding of how young children learn and be able to share about the philosophy that would guide their practice. Applicants should have a belief in the effectiveness of cross-curricular instruction and an enthusiasm for finding connections between subject areas. It would be an asset to have a background in current research-based practices in areas of literacy and numeracy, as well as an understanding of outcome-based assessment.
Excellent classroom management skills are essential to this position. Our school promotes active engagement of students within a calm and safe learning environment. Belief in restorative practice is important.
