About the Role

We are hiring a Director of Paid Media to lead the strategy, performance, and growth of our paid media department. Reporting directly to agency leadership, you will own the paid media P&L across our roster of 10–15 e-commerce and DTC clients. You will be responsible for the strategic direction of each account, the scaling roadmap of the department, and the development of the team underneath you (Paid Media Specialist and Paid Ads Coordinator). This is a hands-on leadership role. You will still be in the platforms regularly — auditing accounts, building the testing roadmap, and approving major launches — but the day-to-day execution sits with your team. Your primary job is to ensure every account gets the strategic depth, analytical rigor, and creative momentum it needs to scale.

What You’ll Own

Strategy & Account Leadership

• Define and own the paid media strategy across 10–12 client accounts, including channel mix, scaling roadmap, testing pipeline, and creative direction.
• Audit accounts on a regular cadence to surface underperformance, scale opportunities, and risk; intervene directly on at-risk accounts.
• Approve all major campaign launches, new-channel tests, and significant budget shifts before they go live.
• Serve as the senior client point of contact for top-tier and strategic accounts; lead reports, annual planning, and high-stakes escalations.

Performance, Analytics & Measurement

• Own advanced measurement across the agency, including incrementality testing, geo lifts, MMM inputs, blended ROAS modeling, and platform-vs.-truth reconciliation (Shopify, GA4, server-side).
• Define agency-wide KPI frameworks, dashboards, and reporting standards; ensure every client gets a clear, narrative-driven story behind the numbers.
• Set the agency standard for tracking infrastructure (pixels, CAPI, GA4, server-side, consent mode) and oversee implementation health across accounts

Team Leadership & Development

• Manage, mentor, and develop the Paid Media Specialist and Paid Ads Coordinator; conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career planning.
• Build career paths, training plans, and certifications roadmap for the paid team (Meta Blueprint, Google Ads, GA4, TikTok, etc.).
• Hire and onboard additional paid media talent as the agency scales; set capacity-planning models and account assignments.

Department Operations

• Own internal SOPs, playbooks, naming conventions, QA checklists, and the agency creative-testing framework.
• Forecast paid media spend, revenue, and pacing across the book of business for agency leadership.
• Stay on top of platform updates (Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, programmatic) and translate changes into agency POV and client recommendations.

New Business & Growth

• Partner with the Business Development team to audit prospective clients, scope paid media engagements, and present in pitches.
• Contribute to thought leadership through case studies, and internal training.

What You Bring

Required

• 5+ years of hands-on paid media experience, with at least 2 years leading a team or owning multiple accounts in an agency or in-house growth role.
• Deep, proven expertise across at least Meta Ads and Google Ads (Search, Shopping, Performance Max). Working fluency in TikTok Ads is preferred; Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and programmatic experience is a plus.
• Strong e-commerce/DTC background — you have personally scaled accounts past meaningful spend thresholds and can speak to ROAS, blended ROAS, CAC, LTV, and contribution-margin trade-offs.
• Strong analytics chops — comfortable with GA4, Shopify analytics, CAPI / server-side tracking, attribution modeling, and pulling apart conflicting data sources.
• Excellent client-facing communication — you can walk a non-technical founder through performance trade-offs and earn trust quickly.
• Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring junior paid media talent.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with Shopify and basic CRO levers (LP tests, upsells, post-purchase flows).
• Familiarity with measurement tools such as Triple Whale, Northbeam, Polar, or similar.
• Experience setting up incrementality / geo-lift tests.
• Agency experience juggling 8+ accounts simultaneously.
