Our organization, a prominent healthcare provider in Savannah, Georgia, is on the lookout for a committed Respiratory Therapist to become a part of our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this position, you will deliver exceptional, patient-focused respiratory care to individuals facing both acute and chronic cardiopulmonary issues across various hospital environments, including emergency rooms, critical care units, and general medical-surgical departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough respiratory evaluations and implement therapy plans in accordance with physician directives and clinical guidelines.
• Monitor patient reactions to treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Set up, manage, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation systems.
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and perform chest physiotherapy.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and other diagnostic tests to inform treatment decisions.
• Respond swiftly to respiratory emergencies and code situations, providing expert airway management and life-support interventions as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Collaboration and Education

You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to create personalized care plans that embody our dedication to compassionate, evidence-based practices. Education plays a vital role in this position; you will instruct patients and their families on respiratory conditions, the correct use of inhalers and home oxygen equipment, as well as strategies to manage and prevent exacerbations.

Documentation and Safety Standards

Timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record is crucial, along with strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols. You will also be expected to maintain respiratory therapy equipment with great care.
